Shaz Kuiama:
Here's a bit of info about me and how I became an Internet Radio Presenter.
My name is Shaz Kuiama, I am 47 Years old and live in England. I am the Programming Controller, Recruitment Manager and a Presenter at Shout Radio and Presenter at Big Venture Radio.
I first started presenting radio shows on cassettes, back in the early 90's, just for fun.
In 1995 I presented my very first Light Shines On: ELO and related artists show, onto a 90 minute cassette, and sent out copies to fellow ELO fans, as a bonus gift, when trading.
I presented over 200 different shows on cassette, as if it was live, before stopping in 1998.
Fast forward to April 2011, my partner Kaz asks a Station we were listening too, about starting up her own station, we both end up getting offered to Present for this Station. I have to say I had no plans to do real Radio Presenting, shows that could actually be heard live by people all over the world. I did'nt think I had it in me to do this, but said Yes, because I knew I would regret it if I did'nt, seeing my partner doing shows.
So thats how all this began.
I seemed to slip into Presenting with ease and fully enjoyed it. I found I had a major passion for it and started researching, Presenting specialist shows and learning more about the legal side of Presenting, Broadcasting and how to run a station on the Net.
In the late 1990's I had started to lose interest in the new music that was hitting mainstream, becoming an Internet Radio Presenter in 2011, seemed to fuel my love for new music again, via the Indie Scene. I pride myself in promoting Indie Artists, playing them side by side with Mainstream Artists.
Since I started presenting on the internet in 2011, I have owned and managed stations, as well as presented on stations based in the UK and America.
Today I am with Shout Radio and Big Venture Radio, and fully enjoying it.

My Love for ELO
My favourite Band is The Electric Light Orchestra, who hail from Birmingham, England.
I discovered the magnificence of ELO in 1987, after my Sister brought home some vinyl that a friend at work was selling, to see if there was anything I wanted to buy.
I was perusing through the records when I came across the 45 (7" Single) for "Mr Blue Sky".
The Band name, The Electric Light Orchestra, intrigued me. So, thinking I was going to actually hear an electric orchestra, I put the record on my turntable.
I did'nt hear what I was expecting, but what I heard was much more than I could've ever imagined! "Mr Blue Sky" just blew me away with it's amazing orchestral sweeps, great production and fun, uplifting lyrics.
Needing to know if this was just a one off song I loved by this Band, I turned over and played the B Side, "One Summer Dream". A hauntingly beautiful piece! Yet again, I was blown away by it's beauty!
So, ofcourse, I purchased this 45 immediately! I remembered a talk I had with a friend, who said her son liked a Band called ELO, so I mentioned this to her, borrowed his Hits Compilation and fell in love even more!
In 1992, I declared ELO as my ultimate favourite Band and started researching their history and collecting everything I could, that had been done by any member of the Band.
In 2000, we got online for the first time and I joined as many ELO Mailing Lists as I could. In 2004, dis-heartened by the negativity on a lot of lists, I created my own, Mr Blue Sky List, as a place for fans to congregate in a friendly atmosphere, share stories, knowledge and be kept up to date with the universe of ELO. This List is still active today, just not as active as it was, due to most people preferring other social networks like Facebook.
In May 2011 I made a dream come true, and that was to make my Light Shines On show become a real radio show! I still present this show to this day, it now airs on my own station Kuiama Radio, on the first Sunday of every Month, from 1pm to 5pm EST/ 6pm to 10pm UK Time.
I also run a group for it, and for fans to just discuss anything ELO and related, on Facebook.
Note: I am also affectionately known as Kuiama Lynne in the world of ELO.
